Carpet Cleaner...My new best friend

This evening started off as any normal evening. Pick Lauryn up from daycare, come home and feed her.
After she ate (or didn't really eat...) we went in the living room to play. She got mad at something, threw her milk cup and the lid popped off. Nice. I had to whip out the carpet cleaner and a towel and scrub the floor. Apparently, it was funny. Lauryn laughed as I scrubbed her spill out of the carpet.

About 30 minutes later, I smelled a dirty diaper. I told her "Let's change your diaper". She plops down on the rug and poop comes squirting out the side of her diaper. I didn't see this happen, however. I preceeded to grab her legs and playfully pull her toward me...dragging her through her poop in the process. Nice. I, once again, whipped out that trusty carpet cleaner and scrubbed scrubbed away.

About 30 minutes after that, Lauryn started making a silly cough sound. I jokingly asked her "Are you fake coughing?". No sooner do I get those words out and a small amount of vomit escaped her mouth. She stood up as I went to wipe it off and she lost it. All of her dinner (probably some lunch too) and milk. Nice. AGAIN...I got out the carpet cleaner and scrubbed a much larger area of carpet. This time, she liked me spraying the carpet cleaner and decided to step where I was cleaning.

I have, literally, been using the carpet cleaner for 2 hours tonight. I'm going to go fold the laundry and go to bed now. Without the carpet cleaner.

Goodnight.

Seriously...are you kidding?

Mike and I were, yet again, up at 12am...
Lauryn must be teething again. There is no other reason for her to wake up and not want to go back to sleep. I have her milk, put her back down and she fell asleep again after awhile.

I had a wonderful weekend in Dallas this past weekend. I went with 13 women from my work (and church) for the Women of Faith conference. It really was great. We already know we're going to Oklahoma City next year for the next conference. It's a lot of fun to listen to the speakers and the worship team. It puts things back in perspective, that's for sure, and it's always good to learn something new about the bible and also about myself.
After the pre-conference on Friday we had a quick dinner at Cafe Express (they make a killer grilled cheese sandwich) and headed back to American Airlines Arena for the beginning of the conference. Got back late Friday and up early for the continuation of the conference all day Saturday. Natalie Grant and Nicole C. Mullen performed and they were totally amazing. Saturday night we had dinner at this tiny Italian restaurant. Super good food. And went back to the hotel and hung out as a group. Sunday we slept in (I got to sleep til 8am!!!!) and got Starbucks...went to the airport and came back to NM.

It was a great trip away for a weekend, but felt good to come home to my family. Lauryn was happy, I got her a book "5 Cheesy Stories" by Patsy Clairmont and it came with 6 mouse stuffed animals that she got very excited over. The excitement must have worn off because she didn't touch them today. Ha ha!! Oh well....

Playtime at 1 a.m.

Lauryn decided that 1am was a good time for play this morning. I, of course, was fast asleep until I heard her on the monitor making noise. I ran upstairs to get her and bring her to her pack and play bed in our room. Typically, when I do this, she goes right back to sleep in the pack and play. But no, not this morning.
What was I thinking trying to put her back to bed?!? This was playtime, didn't I get the memo? Apparently not. So...after failing several times to get her to go to sleep, I gave her milk, put her in the pack and play and let her play herself to sleep.
Eventually it worked. She fell asleep somewhere around 3am. When it was time to get ready for daycare, I had to wake her up. She didn't want to wake up so she slept through my getting her dressed for the day. Finally she opened her eyes after I put on her shirt, looked at me, smiled and said "Boo.". I cracked up and so did she. It was a pretty funny start to the day.

Let us hope that tonight, she sleeps all night...or else I'm going to need a gallon of Starbucks tomorrow.

Terrible...18 months???

Since when did the "Terrible Two's" start at 18 months old? Unless, this is not the terrible two's and it gets worse. (Please, don't tell me it gets worse)

I get to her daycare yesterday to pick her up after work. I walk into her classroom and there she is, sitting on the rocking horse...topless. The teachers are both doubled over laughing. Yes, they were laughing at Lauryn. She, apparently, had been taking her shirt off all day long. Until yesterday I didn't know she could take her own shirt off. Every time the teacher would move toward her to put it on, she's run away. And anytime they successfully got her shirt back on, she'd take it right off.

Today we drop her off and the teacher tells us that Lauryn decided that she didn't need to be in the classroom any longer yesterday. So, she left. Just tried walking right out of the door as if no one would notice.

The other day, at a friend's jewelry party, she broke a cross that was hanging on the door. I called it the minute we walked in. Everyone said "Let her run, she can't hurt anything". I'm thinking "Ha! You don't know Lauryn!!". Sure enough, she managed to break something. How embarrassing!!!

As challenging as she can be, she's the most sweet little girl ever. Mike and I are having a ton of fun with her. She is growing fast and becoming very independent. She knows what she likes and what she doesn't like and has no problem telling us so.

Let's try this blog thing again...

So, last time, I started a blog...and it didn't last very long. When I tried to log in this time, it was GONE. So, we'll try again. Hopefully I can keep up better this time.
